Vino la noche.

Documentary | 94:00 | Peru - Mexico - Spain | 2023

English Title: Night has come
Directed by: Paolo Tizon
Produced by: Diana Castro

Storyline:

A group of young men, many of them teenagers, voluntarily enlists in a rigorous military program within the Peruvian Armed Forces. They are driven by their desire to engage in an ongoing armed conflict in the VRAEM, an area with military intervention framed by a 'war on drugs' policy.

They aspire to become ‘men of war’ and embark on a transformative journey from hopeful adventurers into soldiers. Amidst the violence in the secluded military environment in Peru, intimate moments unfold beyond a prejudiced gaze, where compassion and care blossom among them.

Cielo abierto

Hybrid film | 64:24 | Peru - France | 2023

English Title: Open pit

Directed by: Felipe Esparza

Produced by: Lorena Tulini, Victoria Arias

Storyline:

Demonstrating the power of Slow Cinema, Cielo abierto is a portrait of a difficult meeting of worlds.

A Peruvian father labours patiently, chipping at the white volcanic stone that forms an extraordinary landscape. His son is part of the modern world. Separated by the mysterious death of the wife/mother figure in the family, these men do not connect. And yet their paths cross in a ghostly manner, as do their professions: each in their own way works with textures and volumes, sensations and perceptions. Can the realm of digital art recreate and revivify the old world? Can it also awaken hearts grown lonely and cold?

Around this portrait, the film is built as a collage of moments, sensations, characters’ portraits, sound landscapes, concerts, conversations and poetry. Genres such as rock, punk, psychedelic rock, improvisation, noise andexperimental electronic music are the ones that musicalize the situations that arise when this place becomes inhabited.
